It seems a good suggestion. The very extent to which news organizations are risk-averse is only adding to the price that they are going to have to pay for all the changes which are inevitably occurring in journalism. The entire field is going through a period of reinvention and the major news organizations are dragging their feet as much as possible, not the best strategy when at least some of the problems the industry is facing are derived from loosing your audience because people no longer feel you are providing what they want or need. There are some great interviews with top journalists about the future of journalism at http://www.ourblook.com/component/option,com_sectionex/Itemid,200076/id,8/view,category/#catid69 which I have found useful on these subjects.
