In February the Next-Gen report, co-authored by Eidos life president Ian Livingstone and Double Negative’s Alex Hope, called for computer science to replace information and communications technology (ICT) in the national curriculum. ICT focuses on the use of existing software applications instead of computer programming.
During his talk at yesterday’s London Games Conference, Livingstone said: “ICT is worthless unless you want to become a secretary. We lost our way with ICT, teaching children to use apps, rather than make them.”
