while we focus on the issue of print vs. online in terms of keeping knowledge updated or managing costs, do we stop to consider how the knowledge of wikipedia is less the idea of knowledge as put forth by the publishers and editors — the white, old, rich elite — of britannica, vs the more balanced and open version of knowledge in a resource that is crowdsourced? which one is more real and which one is more ideological?
