i found all the old files from the original kingstown harbour shipwreck project site. it was a yahoo pick of the week, long before there were the web awards we had today. it was pre webbies, pre google, pre blogs. we updated the site daily from the field survey, creating what was called the first virtual shipwreck dive. getting bandwidth in st. vincent at the time was pretty amazing now that i look back at it.

we did this survey in 1997-98, the wreck turned out to be a french frigate with a cannon dated 1776. our theory was it was one of admiral degrasse’s ships from the blockade of the mid atlantic that wintered in the grenadines, probably in 1778. a french wreck named juno was reported lost around that time. take a look back in time at a look back in time.

there are two modern steel hull wrecks situated proximal to the historic wreck. it is a stunning dive and we were fortunate to work the site for the organization of american states.
